Sony Interactive Entertainment said today that the PlayStation 5 gaming console has sold more than 10 million copies since its November 12, 2020 launch, confirming its status as the company’s fastest-selling system ever. While console owners have largely reaped the benefits of this incredible achievement, PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan threw a bone to PC gamers in an interview with Famitsu, saying that Sony is pleased with the performance of its Horizon Zero Dawn and Days Gone PC ports and will continue to release more first-party titles on the powerful and profitable platform. As Ryan predicted, Sony will use the skills of its most recent purchase, Nixxes Software, to deliver more popular PlayStation games to the PC. Nixxes is a prominent industry company located in the Netherlands that has worked on several successful PC games, including Square Enix’s Tomb Raider reboots and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided.

“I can’t emphasize how grateful we are to our devoted PlayStation fans who have adopted PS5, as well as our world-class developer and publishing partners who offer such amazing gaming experiences to our platforms,” Jim Ryan, president and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, stated. “While PS5 has reached more homes than any of our prior consoles, we still have a long way to go as demand continues to exceed supply. While we continue to confront unique difficulties across the globe that impact our business and many others, I want players to know that increasing inventory levels remains a key goal for SIE.”
