The Warhammer 40,000 GT is over and the winners have been announced. The list contains some of the most popular competitive players in all three categories: Hobby, Invitational and Team. As a bonus for your reading pleasure, we’ve included an interview with one winner from each category so that you can get to know them better!
With 58 players, the Westminster Hobbytown Warhammer 40k GT was a major tournament in Colorado. The Balance Dataslate was not in force, which made Knights’ second-place finish all the more astounding. Even if it was, it would not have made the top ten since it did not depend on defective spam or aircraft in any way.
Marshall Peterson – Orks – Westminster Hobbytown 1st Place
dron111’s ork
Marshall Peterson, the champion, is to be congratulated. This army combines Deathskulls patrol’s Objective Secured with a Goffs Battalion’s melee striking capability. The Kill Rigs’ Psychic potential improves on the final point as well. In this list, there are enough of mortal wounds to go around. The Trukk Boyz and the Storm Boyz are only two examples of action-oriented troops in this army. Da Jump can, of course, throw units around the board to perform actions or to become caught in. A fantastic list for other Ork players to follow, and one that will continue to function in the future due to the Balance Slate changes.

Second Place: Sensei Swag – Imperial Knights, Westminster Hobbytown
Brushray’s Imperial Knight
Thank goodness for armies with a low model count. When it came to holding Objectives, this list had pre-buffed Knights, therefore all of the troops here counted as a single model. The Freeblade Armiger, on the other hand, had Objective Secured as one of its models. Clearly, this list will improve in the near future, since a freeblade is not required for Armigers to have Objective Secured moving forward. While this army struggles to play the Objectives Game, it’s not a big deal since Knights can sweep troops off the board. As a result, the Castellan uses the Relic Plasma and Cold Eradication to remove buggy spam and get more rounds out of its random weaponry.
This army has access to the House Raven Supplement as a House Raven Detachment. The Stratagems are still available, even if the relics and warlord attributes from that supplement were not employed in this list. For example, to dull the turn 1 Alpha attack into the Knights, toss out a 4++ invulnerable to 3 of the Knights.
Congratulations on coming in second place with Knights.

Travis Armstrong – Grey Knights – Westminster Hobbytown 3rd place
Guidewom’s Grey Knights
Congratulations to Travis Armstrong, who finished third in the Westminster Hobbytown Warhammer 40k GT. While he had the Dreadspam in his army, he approached it in a unique way. The first distinction is that all of the basic Dreadknights are in a Prescient Brotherhood Outrider. Travis also managed to cram in a Librarian, who was responsible for a slew of lethal wounds. Clearly, the list works since he only lost his last game against the event’s champion.
